Emerge Massachusetts Fundraising Consultant 

Founded in 2007, Emerge Massachusetts is the premier political leadership training program for Democratic women in Massachusetts. Our mission is to identify, train, and inspire Democratic women to pursue public office at the local, state and national levels.  Emerge Massachusetts is part of a national network currently working in twelve states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon and Wisconsin.  For more information about Emerge Massachusetts, please visit
Program Vision: Grow organizational capacity to strengthen existing training programs, including solidifying and expanding current curriculum; increase state-wide recruitment efforts to ensure high-level and robust classes; increase impact in candidate recruitment; and build a deliberate alumnae support infrastructure.
The Opportunity

Emerge Massachusetts seeks a dynamic and experienced development professional to shape and grow our fundraising strategy.
Consultant priorities to include:
Shape a clear and understandable major gifts structure
  • Reshape current major gifts program (founders circle, advisory council, and men’s leadership council), which has inconsistent giving requirements and unclear “term-limits.” Develop strategy around what donors get in return when they give to Emerge at a high-level
 Conceptualize an engagement plan to solidify our newest donors
  • Retain and reenergize new donors, brought in by 5th anniversary; keeping them engaged with the organization and turning them into consistent givers
  • Reinforce – or rebuild—connections to Emerge for  lapsed donors
 Bring in new, high-level ($10K +) donors
  • Identify and introduce new donors to Emerge Massachusetts
    • Our highest-dollar donors have been with us since the beginning of the organization: We need to bring in new donors at that level to grow capacity and to offset any decreasing commitments from founding donors
 Implement a sustainable board fundraising strategy
  • Leverage board connections and grow board networks to include high-level donors
  • Ensure a consistently 100% giving board
 Scope of work may include:
  • Coaching executive director and board members on fundraising best practices, including managing call time
  • Advising on donor engagement timelines – including events (large & small); email blasts; direct mail; etc.
  • Weaving fundraising plan and communications plan – ensuring complementary strategies and timelines
